High powered delegation to promote investment and exports in Germany

AHK Sri Lanka successfully organized a business delegation to Germany in a drive to boost the investment and trade relations between Sri Lanka and Germany. The delegation was headed by the Hon. Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Mr. Malik Samarawickrama, the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and decision-makers of Sri Lankan businesses.

The delegation visited Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin and met with senior German officials, as well as leading representations of German industry. During the business trip, there were investment forums and round-table discussions on various topics. Importantly, the business mission focused on the available opportunities for Sri Lankan Logistic and Maritime sector, IT/BPM, Sourcing sectors and other potential export and investment areas. Moreover, the technology advancement and know-how, which could be of help for Sri Lankan companies to increase innovation and industrial capabilities, were broadly discussed.

Germany is of considerable importance to Sri Lanka as it is the 4th largest economy in the world and the biggest economy within the European Union and also a dynamo in the manufacturing sector which is a focus sector for Sri Lanka. In addition, Germany is also a leader in the field of logistics notably in intelligent IT solutions for logistic sector. The meetings, forums and roundtable discussions were co-organized by the CCIs of Frankfurt and Hamburg as well as the OAV.
