Handover of report on the Simplification of Existing Laws and Regulations in Sri Lanka

The Chief Delegate of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka – Mr. Andreas Hergenröther, the Head of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Sri Lanka – Mr. Hubertus von Welck, and the German Ambassador – H.E. Holger Seubert, met the Secretary to President of Sri Lanka Dr. P.B Jayasundara on 22 March 2021 to handover the report on the Simplification of Existing Laws and Regulations in Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, the report on “The Simplification of existing Laws and Regulations in Sri Lanka” prepared by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Sri Lanka, was presented to support the work of the Commission on the Simplification of Existing Laws and Regulations appointed by his Excellency the President on 07 January 2021. The main tasks of this commission are to review and assess as to whether the issuance of laws, regulations and circular instructions has resulted in over regulation and deviated from the scope and objectives of original legislations and to identify areas where simplifications and rationalization could be made to make the most effective modern regulatory systems.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka are honored to have the opportunity to contribute with this report to the work of the commission.
