Our special guest, Mr. Rohan Masakorala, CEO of Shippers’ Academy Colombo, delivered a highly insightful deep dive into the current maritime disruptions caused by the Middle East crisis. In his input, he emphasized that this is not a short-term shock, but a structural disruption.

With over 1,000 vessels stranded in the Gulf region, rising bunker fuel and insurance costs, and increasing strain across production, storage, and transport, businesses must prepare for continued volatility. Even in a best-case scenario, global logistics will take weeks to stabilize.

However, Mr. Masakorala also highlighted a critical opportunity:
As global shipping routes are being reassessed, Sri Lanka has the potential to reposition itself strategically within global trade flows.

A timely and thought-provoking session, thank you, Mr. Rohan, for sharing your expertise and practical guidance.
