In 2022, it amounted to $146 per capita, while in India, spending was only $79 per capita during the same period.     On 3 March, AHK Sri Lanka hosted its first Logistics & Maritime Sector Committee Meeting of 2026. We had the special honour of welcoming Mr. Asanga Deshapriya, Director General of the Merchant Shipping Secretariat at the Ministry of Ports & Civil Aviation, who shared insights on the tasks and responsibilities of the Merchant Shipping Secretariat. The discussion also focused on how the industry and authorities can strengthen collaboration to support the sector’s development.
