Insights into Sewage Sludge Management

Tuesday marked the third day of the one-week visit of Mr. Steffen Ritterbusch, CEO of engineering4environment, to Sri Lanka.

the Exportinitiative Umweltschutz project on conceptualising a new sewage sludge management system for the Seethawaka Export Processing Zone of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), Mr. Ritterbusch is conducting site visits across the country to gather key information for his feasibility study.

 

On Sunday, he visited TECGEN Lanka (Private) Limited to observe current sludge disposal practices.


On Monday, he met with Ms. Himali Karunaweera, Director (Environment Pollution Control) at the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), to gain insights into national standards and regulations related to wastewater and sewage sludge treatment in Sri Lanka.

 

On Tuesday, he visited the Seethawaka Export Processing Zone. The programme included a discussion with industry stakeholders, a site visit to the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the sewage sludge disposal site, as well as a company visit to Lalan Rubbers.
