The event brought together a distinguished audience comprising business partners, media representatives, and industry stakeholders, who engaged in a high-level exchange of economic insights and future expectations for both the local and international business environments.

Mr. Martin Klose, Chief Delegate of AHK Sri Lanka, opened the event by presenting key insights from the AHK Business Barometer. The Spring 2025 results reveal a cautiously optimistic outlook among German companies operating in Sri Lanka, underlining the resilience of German enterprises in the local market.

The presentation was followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr. Nathalie de Dieuleveult, Managing Director, B. Braun Lanka, and Mr. Prashant Grover, CEO, Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd, who shared valuable perspectives on navigating economic challenges, managing workforce dynamics, and aligning business strategies with global shifts such as climate change and trade policy risks.

Key findings from the survey include:
  • Investment Outlook: 33% plan to increase local investments, and 48% aim to maintain current levels.
  • Employment Trends: 31% of companies plan to hire more, while 63% intend to retain their current workforce.
  • Risks: The top concerns include a lack of skilled workers (47%), weak demand (26%), and financing conditions (25%).
  • Global Challenges: Participants identified U.S. trade policy, climate change, and supply chain diversification as key long-term external risks.

The event reinforced AHK Sri Lanka’s commitment to fostering informed dialogue and supporting German businesses in navigating Sri Lanka’s evolving economic environment and the broader South Asian market.
