On 10 August, AHK Sri Lanka hosted its Q3 Digital Innovation and Technology (DIT) Sector Committee Meeting, bringing together representatives from Sri Lanka’s ICT sector to exchange perspectives on current industry developments and regulatory priorities.
A key focus of the meeting was Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and its practical implications for businesses.

The session highlighted important organizational and technical considerations, including data mapping, internal accountability, consent management, data-retention procedures, cross-border data processing, and the documentation required to demonstrate compliance.
During the open discussion, committee members exchanged perspectives on the challenges businesses may face in implementing the PDPA, the need for further regulatory guidance, and the potential for strong data-protection practices to strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a trusted destination for digital services and international business.
