AHK Sri Lanka was pleased to invite Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), as the special guest to this memorable occasion. The evening brought together key representatives from both the Agriculture and Investor Sector Committees for an evening of meaningful dialogue.

In his address, Mr. Wijesinghe highlighted the strategic importance of Germany as an export destination and the untapped potential Sri Lankan exporters can still unlock. He acknowledged the value of platforms like AHK Sri Lanka’s Sector Committees in facilitating public-private engagement.

The intimate dinner format enabled open and candid discussion among participants. Key topics raised by our members included:

  • Sustainability and its role in shaping global trade
  • Access to and participation in international trade fairs as well as stronger engagement of German companies at local Trade Fairs in Sri Lanka
  • Clarity and consistency in government policies and regulatory decisions
  • Medical product registration processes
  • The pace of digitalisation in agriculture and related industries
  • Current conditions for local and foreign investment

Several members used the opportunity to directly convey industry insights and challenges to the EDB Chairman, who encouraged ongoing feedback and offered the Board’s openness for further collaborative meetings and discussion rounds.

AHK Sri Lanka extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe for dedicating his time to engage with the private sector and to all the participating members for their valuable contributions to this important dialogue.
