After the successful inauguration in 2025, AHK Sri Lanka organizes a second edition of Girls’Day in Sri Lanka in 2026. We would like to address the disproportionately low representation of women especially in STEM and leadership careers and provide girls the opportunity to experience different careers in a safe and secure environment
Our goal is to create an environment that fosters encouragement and opportunity, equipping young girls with the confidence and exposure they need to pursue these career paths.
Information for Schools
Girls’Day is a unique opportunity for girls from your institution to explore exciting careers, meet inspiring female role models, and discover new possibilities—all in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
Participating institutions will send a group of girls (of a predefined size) together with a teacher or staff member to one of our collaborating companies. The group will spend either a half day or a full day at the company, gaining hands-on insights into different professions.
Depending on the host company, participants may:
- Explore large warehouses and learn how global logistics works
- Enjoy informal lunch conversations with inspiring female leaders
- Take part in small practical projects using tools such as screwdrivers and drills
Throughout the visit, the girls are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about the job roles, work environment, and the company itself.
To ensure a high-quality experience, all visits take place in small groups of approximately 5–15 girls, with appropriate supervision provided by the host company, ensuring both safety and engagement.
Participation in the program is completely free of charge. Institutions are only responsible for arranging transportation to and from the company. If transportation logistics or costs present a challenge, please let us know—we will be happy to support where possible.
- Date: 04th March 2026 (TBC.)
- Location: Various companies in and around Colombo
- Age group: 12-16 years (preferred)
- Girls’-only program
- Free of Charge

Information for Companies
Women account for nearly half (49%) of undergraduate enrollments in STEM subjects at local universities in Sri Lanka. However, in the professional world, female talent remains underrepresented—largely due to persistent gender stereotypes and societal norms. It is time to change this.
Girls’Day offers companies the opportunity to actively contribute to closing this gap by encouraging young women to explore non-traditional career paths and envision themselves in technical, operational, and leadership roles.
Call for Industry Participation
We invite companies in and around Colombo to take part in Girls’Day 2026 by hosting a group of schoolgirls for a day filled with interactive, informative, and inspiring activities. Participation in Girls’Day allows your organization to empower the next generation of female professionals while positioning your company as a champion of diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities of Participating Companies
Participating companies are kindly requested to:
- Design a structured half-day or full-day program
- Host a group of schoolgirls in line with your operational capacity
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
Your company’s responsibility is limited to the program design and on-site engagement. All administrative coordination, school matchmaking, and overall program management will be handled by AHK Sri Lanka.
We would be delighted to welcome your company on board and work together to make Girls’Day 2026 in Sri Lanka a meaningful and impactful success.
